GL Events commissioned us to design a unique, tailor-made experience for the Grand Est Region booth at the Foire Européenne de Strasbourg. Our interactive digital installation met four objectives:
Immersion in the landscapes of the Grand Est Region
The installation aimed to immerse participants in the heart of the region's landscapes through a spectacular augmented reality
experience that showcased the beauty and diversity of the area.
Personalized souvenir
Each participant obtained a souvenir of their experience by downloading the image of themselves immersed in the landscapes of
the Grand Est via a special QR code and then sharing it on social media.
Participant activation and communication
By collecting email addresses, the Grand Est Region was able to organize a contest and remain in regular contact with the
audience.
Bonding over the Grand Est Region
Integrating individual photos into a collective work represented by a large digital mosaic of the Grand Est Region logo helped
to unite participants in their appreciation of the region’s rich heritage and values.
A stand-alone installation As well as being independent from a technical perspective, the installation needed to be capable of being reused at other trade shows to maximize the investment and the reach of the initiative.
Our collaboration with GL Events, who were responsible for technical installation and stand design, was essential in bringing the augmented reality installation to life.
We chose the Kinect motion capture technology to create the sensation of being immersed in the landscapes of the Grand Est region.
Once the prototype had been validated, we issued our technical recommendations to GL Events. These included the location and orientation of the Kinect, the screen size and how participants were to be positioned in relation to the green background.
Together, we created a high-performance installation that was both visually appealing and geared towards audience involvement.
During the show, participants immersed themselves in the majestic landscapes of the Grand Est region by positioning themselves between a green background and the Kinect. Their silhouettes were then placed against the scenery in real time on the large LED screen.
After 30 seconds, a photo was taken automatically and a specialQR code was instantly displayed on the screen. This allowed participants to download their photos on their phones in the colors of the Grand Est. An email field was also provided to enable them to sign up for a competition.
At the end of the experience, each photo was integrated into a large digital mosaic, making all participants part of a collective work representing the Grand Est Region logo.
The innovative technology used to create the photo mosaic comes from our digital animation WE ARE LOGO™.
The initiative that was designed to promote the Grand Est Region through an immersive installation attracted 150 participants every day for a ten-day period.
Following the initial success, the experience was repeated at the Metz Fair, demonstrating its ability to attract the attention of the general public at all kinds of events.
